Architect: Henry T. Phelps

Year Built: 1928

The current San Patricio County Courthouse is located in Sinton, Texas.  It is the 6th courthouse for San Patricio County. It replaced the 1893 courthouse designed by James Riely Gordon (demolished in 1927).

Phelps also designed the following Texas courthouses:

Phelps designed buildings in several architectural styles, such as Romanesque Revival, Mission Revival, Beaus-Arts, and Streamline Moderne.

Some years ago, I handled a case for a long-time family friend in this Courthouse. I’ll never forget that one because the other side no-showed the trial, but did send a text saying that he would not appear because he had diarrhea. We showed the text to the Judge and all had a good laugh!
